A BOOK ABOUT BLACK WOMEN’S FRIENDSHIPS
In 2017 I began researching the topic of friendships between black women. I surveyed 270 women about their friendships and I interviewed thirty of them. Yes. Just me. All by myself. It wasn’t an easy thing to do.
In the fall of 2021 I thought the book was finished. But it didn’t feel finished. So I decided not to publish it. The book became something entirely different than what I had in mind. This happens with book writing. A book can start out one way and end up loopty-looping in whole new ways. You just have to trust the process and let the story guide you.
Now six years since my research began, I am finally close to finishing the manuscript for this book.
Stay tuned for updates.
